5 Game of Thrones Inspired Drinks

Can anyone else believe that Game of Thrones officially ends this Sunday? Honestly, I don’t know what we’re going to do with our Sunday nights now that we don’t have these episodes to look forward to. While Nick and I aren’t having a viewing party with our friends, I haven’t stopped thinking about GoT inspired food and beverages that we could make this Sunday as tribute to the series finale. While we may be snacking on character favorites throughout the day, such as Sansa’s sweet lemon cakes or the Hounds classic fried chicken, I wanted to share a few drink recipes you can enjoy during the series finale as a toast to eight great seasons and ten great years.

So cheers to you Game of Thrones with these five inspired cocktails:

Shaken not LanniSTIRed Paloma

Palomas are one of my favorite drinks, so I had to find a way to include it in my five GoT inspired beverages! While I doubt the Lannister siblings were drinking palomas at King’s Landing, I have to assume that tropical fruits such as grapefruits and limes were available to them – so it could have been an option! To make this shaken (not LanniSTIRed!) beverage, combine 2 shots of tequila, 1/2 oz. lime juice and 1 oz. grapefruit juice in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a salt rimmed glass and top with grapefruit soda or seltzer. Impress your guests (or treat yourself) to a fresh grapefruit slice garnish.

Dragon’s Blood Sangria

If you’re hosting a viewing party at your house, skip the horse heart and serve your guests a tall glass of dragon’s blood instead. The best thing about sangria is that you can make a pitcher for your guests, rather spending time making individual drinks. Plus, it’s actually recommended to prepare and refrigerate up to 8 hours before consumption so the flavor marry. Here’s my favorite recipe for a classic red sangria.

The Winterfell Warmup

Warm yourself up as if you were at Winterfell with a spicy Fireball Infused Old Fashioned.  To make, simply combine 3 oz. whiskey, 3 oz. orange juice and and 1 oz. maple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake for 30 seconds then strain into a chilled glass. To really impress you guests, garnish with orange peel and cherry.

White Walker Milkshake Shots

While the Night King and White Walkers may be dead, there’s no reason to turn down a alcoholic adult milkshake! Delish shared this recipe two years ago for “White Walker Milkshake Shots” and they actually do taste like a creamsicle in a shot glass. And hey, you can say you “conquered” a few White Walkers on your own!

Wildfire Jell-O Shots

Give your friends a taste of King’s Landing with these green Wildfire Jell-O Shots. Another great make ahead option, this fun alcoholic beverage requires just three ingredients – green Jell-O, vodka and water. To make, bring 1 cup water to boil and add Jell-O mixture powder. Stir for 2-3 minutes, or until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka then pour into shot glasses, plastic cups etc. Refrigerate for 3 hours, or until set.
