10 Gifts that #GIVEBACK

#ADULTING-4.png

Happy #GivingTuesday! For those who don’t know, Giving Tuesday began as an international movement to kick off the holiday season by giving back to charities and non-profits across the world.

My family and friends can attest to this, but I always try to give back to my community, especially during the holiday season. I’ve always purchased Secret Angel gifts for under privileged children through my church or my work, and I am notorious for adding on a $1 or rounding up my bill at stores to give back to local children’s hospitals and organizations.

One Christmas as a young girl, I decided to only purchase gifts that gave a portion of proceeds back to charity. I remember that included makeup for mom (such as Burt’s Bees!) and Heifer International animal donations for dad. At a young age, I saw the importance of helping and supporting others and I personally believe holiday gifts are a great, easy and selfless way to give (in multiple ways!)

I’ve rounded up 10 gifts that give back to charity and are great for anyone in your life – moms, dads, brothers, sisters, significant others, friends, baby, animal lovers and even their furry friends.

One Hope Pinot for Paws:  This is the doggone best gift for the wine lover in your life who also happens to be a pet parent! All One Hope Wines donate proceeds to charity, but this specific gift box set donates funds to animal shelters. Plus, each box set includes toys for their pup! Wine for the “hooman” and toys for the furry friend! $38 for box set.

Burt’s Bees Satin Lipstick: Burt’s Bees donates 10% of all product proceeds to The Burt’s Bees Greater Good Foundation. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization supports human and honeybee health and has issued over $2 million dollars in grants since 2007. Makes a great stocking stuffer! $9 each.

Lush Charity Pot: This is the only gift on my list that donates 100% of proceeds to small grassroots organizations working in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights. This philanthropic lotion is also made from sustainably sourced ingredients that leave your skin silky smooth. If those aren’t good enough reasons to purchase this luscious skin lotion, I don’t know what is! $7.95 for 1.7 oz. jar.

Love Your Melon Hats: Keep your head and your heart warm with this charitable hat that donates 50% of net proceeds to the Love Your Melon Fund to support a variety of nonprofit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer, as well as create therapeutic experiences and fund charitable programming initiatives for children and families battling cancer. Hats fit men, women and children and range from $25-$60.

Happy Blankie:  Happy Blankies are officially the cutest children’s blanket I’ve ever seen! If you need a gift for a newborn, toddler or expecting mother, look no further! This small business has a “One to Love, One to Give” program that gives a blanket to someone of your choosing, whether it’s a friend, family member or even someone at a local children’s hospitals or families in need! Blankets start at $36.

FEED Project Blue Canvas Swingpack Crossbody: FEED bags have been around for years with a mission to end worldwide hunger. Each bag and tote on their website shares how many school meals you are donating to a hungry child through your handbag purchase. With this gift, you are making an investment in someone’s nutrition, education and career. Bags range in price from $20-$300+.

ROMA Rain Boots: Rain boots are such a practical gift, yet one that will never disappoint! For every boot purchase, ROMA will donate a pair of rain boots to a child in need. Rain boots are available for women and children and start at $50.

TOMS Shoes: TOMS is known for donating shoes to children all over the world, and has given over 86 million pairs of shoes to date. Each purchase provides health, education and community development programs to help improve the future of children, their families and communities in need. I love that TOMS shoes now come in a variety of styles and designs! Men, women and children shoes are available starting at $40.

STATE Bags and Backpacks: Another great organization who does the BOGO offer. For every bag purchased, STATE Bags donates a #GIVEBACKPACK, a backpack filled with school supplies to a local child in need. The style of the women’s backpacks and totes are a bit masculine and minimalist, with a European feel. I love all of the men’s bags and laptop cases, as well as the colorful children’s backpacks! Available for men, women and kids starting at $60.

Warby Parker Glasses and Sunglasses:  There’s nothing more preppy and classic than Warby Parker glasses. I love that the brand lets you try on five different styles of glasses to guarantee you like the pair you buy! This business follows the same business philosophy as TOMS and STATE with their Buy a Pair, Give a Pair of glasses program. This program has donated over 4 million glasses to adults as well as school children around the world. Glasses are around $100 a pair.

Do you know of any other brands that donate back to charity? If so, I’d love to learn about them. Share with me in the comments below!
